Train Tour Over the Glaciers

The French side of Mont Blanc, which faces north, is much more than Italian Ice, more vertical and more sunny.
From Chamonix (1035 m), the French town just across the Mont Blanc tunnel, a train rack allows you to reach Montervers (1913 m), at the mouth of the Mer de Glace, the largest glacier of the mountain, a huge river of ice that falls from the great glacial cirques powered by peaks over 4,000 meters. The view of the impressive walls of the Druze and the Grandes Jorasses is wonderful. Also on-site exposure of crystals and a small museum of alpine animals naturalized (free admission).

Every year is a tunnel dug into the glacier leading to some spacious rooms, complete with furniture, carved in pure ice. A little 'contrived but a unique opportunity to observe the interior of a glacier.
